Local Shopping
What You Need and What You Want!
Shops of Every Sort. Our self-sufficient island has stores that will provide what you need, whether groceries, hardware, camping supplies, gasoline, beverages, prescriptions, outdoor clothes, or electronics. There are also several convenience stores for those last-minute items. Many small shops also provide outlets for local fine arts and crafts, for which Grand Manan is becoming well known. See the Grand Manan tourism map for locations, and when you come across one of our modest small shops, be sure to stop. You will be happy you did!
The Exchange at the Old North Head Post Office
The Post Office is a classic 1938 Government building that hosts a co-operative of small businesses. ‘The Exchange’ is a place to browse and find your special memento or treat while on your Grand Manan adventure. We
showcase all local products including the Island home of “Terry's Beef” and “Oven Head Salmon Smokers”.
We also have the Island’s largest Penny-Candy counter.

A couple of renovations later, the focus is to meet customers’ needs with a wide variety of products. Just a short walk from the Island’s best beach and historic smokesheds is one of Grand Manan’s most unique shops. Wilcox Natural Treasures has been in operation since 1995, producing all natural soaps, body products, jewellery, candles and stepping stones. By using natural resources such as dulse (a seaweed that Grand Manan is well known for), Irish moss, and other seaweeds harvested locally, we have developed unique blends, using essential oils to scent our beautiful soaps and body products. Make your trip complete by visiting our gift shop in Seal Cove and take a bit of the Island home!
